Nitzan Horowitz ( Hebrew ניצן הורוביץ, Born February 24, 1964 in Rishon LeZion ) is an Israeli journalist and politician . Since June 2019 he has been chairman of the Meretz party .

Life

Horowitz studied law at Tel Aviv University . From 1983 to 1987 he was employed as a newscaster for the Israeli radio station Galei Zahal . From 1987 to 1989 he worked as a journalist for the Israeli newspaper Hadashot . From 1989 to 2002 he worked as a journalist for the Israeli daily Haaretz . He worked as a foreign correspondent for the Israeli television broadcaster Channel 10 from 2002 until he was elected to the Knesset. From 2009 to 2015 he was a member of the Knesset for the Meretz party. In 2013 he was defeated by the politician Ron Huldai in the fight for mayor in Tel Aviv . He no longer took part in the parliamentary elections . At the end of June 2019, Horowitz was elected chairman of his party.

Horowitz lives with his partner in Tel Aviv .
