Niutoua is a village in Tongatapu , Tonga . In its vicinity was the first seat of the Tongan Empire .
geography
The village is located at the northeast end of Tongatapu and in the immediate vicinity is the Haʻamonga ʻa Maui , a trilith which is regarded as the original entrance to the ruler's residence, but could also have served astronomical purposes. About 100 m away there is also the stone Maka Faʻakinanga (Tokotoko ko taʻofi tangata), which is considered to be the ruler's throne and behind it the Utulongoaʻa ( Eng . "Loud cliff"). There is also the northeasternmost point of Tongatapu, Mui Hopohoponga Point ( ⊙ ).
