level
The word level (from French level , "basic balance, spirit level"; related to Latin libella , "small balance", and leveling ) means:
- primarily an area of constant height , d. H. a horizontal plane,
- or, taking into account the curvature of the earth, a level surface as represented by an undisturbed water level,
- and mathematically for a point set of the same height, the level set .

In a figurative sense, the following can be meant:
- Rank , quality or importance of an event (e.g. high level of discussion)
- or more generally a scale level for the importance of a topic
- technical for an accurate spirit level (spirit level), the traditional meter for precise level measurements ( leveling )
