Nizar Baraka (born February 6, 1964 in Rabat ) is a Moroccan politician of the Istiqlal party . Since January 3, 2012, he has succeeded Salaheddine Mezouar as Finance Minister of Morocco in the government cabinet of Abdelilah Benkirane . Just a year later, the ruling parties Istiqlal and PJD fell out , Istiqlal left the ruling coalition and has been in opposition ever since.

He has been the general secretary (chairman) of his party since 2017.
