Salaheddine Mezouar (* 1953 in Meknes ) is a Moroccan politician and belongs to the National Collection of Independents .

Education and career

He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pierre Mendès-France Grenoble II and a Diploma in Management from the School of Economics and Business Administration (Institut supérieur de commerce et d'administration des entreprises) in Casablanca .

From 2004 to 2007 Salaheddine Mezouar was Minister for Industry and Trade under Prime Minister Driss Jettou . He then became finance minister in the Abbas El Fassi cabinet . For the parliamentary elections in Morocco in 2011 , he set up a Democratic Bloc consisting of eight palatial liberal parties to prevent the Justice and Development Party from winning the election , which he did not succeed.

He has been his country's foreign minister since October 2013, and in November 2016 he headed the 22nd UN Climate Change Conference in Marrakech 2016 ( COP 22 ).
