Njerëz të humbur ( German  "Vermisste Menschen" , English Missing People ) is a live television show broadcast in Albania from 2008 to 2018 . This year, the private television broadcaster TV Klan took over the copyrights from the broadcaster Telenorba Shqiptare , in which the television program entitled Ku je? (Eng. "Where are you?") and appeared from 2006 with today's broadcast title. The program was broadcast live every Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. In the summer there was a broadcast break between July and September. The idea for the show came from journalist Aida Shtino , who was inspired by a similar format at the private broadcaster TV Alter in Greece , where she also worked for many years. With Njerëz të humbur, Shtino builds on the problematic emigration tradition of the Albanians , through which many families were separated for a long time and no contact between the individual members was possible. With the publication of the missing persons on television, she hoped that family members, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, etc. would recognize the missing person and report to the broadcast. Most of the time, the editorial team went with Shtino to collect the circumstantial evidence and evidence about the person. People who knew anything about the whereabouts or the case in general could speak to the telephone team around the clock. The cases dealt with in the program were almost always known to the police authorities concerned. Njerëz të humbur was also active outside Albania: Many cases also came from the neighboring countries Kosovo , North Macedonia , Montenegro , Serbia , Greece, but also from the Albanian diaspora in Italy , Germany , other European countries, the United States , Canada , Australia and from other countries in the world. In 2014 the program was discontinued. Shitino later announced that she and people who were missing relatives had been threatened.

Foundation and partner

In 2006 it was deemed necessary to set up a foundation of the same name to handle the cases outside of the broadcast. Fondacioni "Njerëz të humbur" is the name of this foundation and was also created by Aida Shtino. In addition to this main helper, there are other partners from the judiciary, politics, business and the media: the Albanian public prosecutor's office , the police , Interpol , various Albanian emigration associations, the Albanian ombudsman's office, the International Red Cross , the newspaper Bota Shqiptare in Italy, the foreign embassies in Albania , the Greek counterpart Fos sto Tounel , the Italian Chi l'ha visto? and the American Missing Person .
