Life

Lucien Noël, the son of a Parisian wine merchant, was employed in a bank from 1914 to 1917 and began working as a humorous draftsman and caricaturist after his military service in the early 1920s. His work has been published in Le Canard enchaîné and L'Humanité . As early as 1921, Noël-Noël appeared for the first time as a chansonnier , who also performed his own songs (e.g. 'Le chapeau neuf', 'L'enterrement', 'La rentrée tardive' ). From 1927 the artist could be seen in Parisian revue theaters such as the Théâtre de Dix heures. Since 1950 he has been president of the Syndicat des chansonniers.

On the side, Noël-Noël also tried his hand at acting, and with the beginning of the sound film age in France, he was also regularly in front of the camera. "His role was that of the typical, urban and rural, average French, a mixture of good-naturedness, simplicity and naivety but also cleverness." He could play serious people from the class as well as funny, cranky owls. His most famous character was the film hero Ademaï Joseph, conceived by Noël-Noël himself, who he played in a number of short and full-length entertainment films of the 1930s and 1940s. The Parisian also wrote the script for some of his films, and at one point also directed. Based on his manuscripts, the TV series Le voyageur des siècles was created in 1969/70 .

Noël-Noël also held a number of functionaries in film politics.
