Noël Joseph Auguste Delfosse (* 1801 in Liège ; † February 22, 1858 ) was a Belgian politician .

biography

Delfosse studied law and established himself as a lawyer in his hometown. As a representative of liberalism , after Belgium separated from the Netherlands, he was first elected to the local council, in 1836 to the provincial council and in 1840 to the chamber representative of the city of Liège. He held his mandate without interruption, was elected Vice-President of the Chamber in 1848 and remained in that office until 1852. His decisive character and convincing speaking skills established his political influence in the years 1848 and 1849, when he worked mainly to pre-Belgium To secure influences of the French movement. At that time he spoke his now famous word in the chamber: “La liberté française pour faire le tour du monde n'a pas besoin de passer par chez nous! »

In 1853 and 1854 he took the presidential chair of the chamber, which he vacated the right-wing candidate in 1855. He refused to set up a new ministry twice, in 1854 and 1855. After the victory of the Liberal Party, the Rogier - Frère Ministry honored him with the title of Minister of State on November 12, 1857 , which did not prevent him from speaking against the measures of the Ministry, which seemed to him incompatible with liberalism.
