Nofrethenut was an ancient Egyptian queen of the 12th Dynasty . It was in a pyramid next to the pyramid of Sesostris III. buried and it is therefore assumed that she was the wife of Sesostris III. (around 1872 BC to around 1852 BC) was.

Your little queen pyramid next to the pyramid of Sesostris III. was once about 16.8 × 16.8 m and maybe just as high. Today it is poorly preserved and was made of adobe bricks that were once faced with limestone . In the east there was a small chapel, which is also very poorly preserved and cannot be further reconstructed. It was once decorated with reliefs .

Below the pyramid are the queen's tombs. They can be reached via a corridor that connects the four pyramids to the north of the ruler's pyramid. In the burial chamber stands her sarcophagus , on which she is referred to as the king's wife and who is united with the white crown . The inscription on the sarcophagus is remarkably poorly engraved and indicates that the queen should not be buried here from the start, perhaps even not even the wife of Sesostris III. In another chamber below the pyramid is a second, unlabeled sarcophagus.
