Nomada braunsiana is a bee from the family of Apidae .

features

The bees are 9 to 11 millimeters long. The head and thorax of the females are black and have red markings. The tergites are basal black, otherwise red with yellow spots. The labrum is red and has strong teeth. The third antenna segment is the same length as the fourth. The scutellum is spotted red and has large spaces between the dots. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs have a blunt tooth at the end and several dark little thorns. In the male, the head and thorax are black with red markings. The tergites are basally black, the disc is red with large yellow spots. The labrum is yellow and has strong teeth near the front edge. The third antennae is shorter than the fourth. The fifth to tenth link is knotty and thickened. The rails of the hind legs have a tooth at the end, one or two bristle-like and three to four short thick thorns.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in southern and central Europe. The animals fly from mid-May to mid-August. The species parasitizes Andrena curvungula and Andrena pandellei .
