Nomada Castellana is a bee from the family of Apidae .
features
The bees have a body length of 5 to 7 millimeters (females) or 5 to 6 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are black and have red markings. The labrum is red and has three teeth in the middle. The third antennae is shorter than the fourth. The scutellum has two adjacent red spots. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt at the end, have a bristle hair and several short small thorns. The head and thorax of the males are black with yellow markings. The tergites are basal black, the disc is spotted red and partly yellow. The labrum is mostly spotted yellow. The third antenna segment is much shorter than the fourth. The fifth to tenth link is knotty and thickened. The knotted label is black. The thighs ( femora ) of the hind legs are loosely covered with short hair below. The rails of the hind legs are quite blunt at the end and have bristle hair and several short small thorns.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is widespread in southern, central and eastern Europe. The animals fly from late April to mid-July. The species parasitizes species of the Andrena minutula group and probably also Andrena anthrisci and Andrena alfkenella .
