Under Non Impact Printing ( Engl. For "non-contact printing."; Abbr NIP ) are in the printing technology those printing processes to understand that in the transfer of ink in the strict sense entirely without printing form get along and work for contactless, in a broader sense as well as printing methods , in which the only temporarily generated printing form exerts significantly lower mechanical pressure ("impact") compared to conventional printing processes . It does not matter whether the print image is transferred to the print medium directly or indirectly via an intermediate carrier (which itself can exert high mechanical pressure, e.g. with the HP Indigo Press ). Examples of NIP procedures are:

• Inkjet printing
• Electrophotography
• Ionography
• Magnetography
• Thermal printing
• Photography (used for photo papers that are illustrated by digitally controlled laser systems )
• Laser printing

In principle, all NIP processes can print the pages with variable content from print copy to print copy. NIP processes can also be referred to as Direct Digital Printing (DDP) or Computer to Print (Ct-PRINT).
