Nonacho Lake is a reservoir in the Northwest Territories of Canada and is 75 km southeast of Great Slave Lake . The water area is 698 km². Including the islands, the total area is 784 km².
The Taltson River flows from the Nonacho River in a south-westerly direction to the nearby Taltson Lake .
The dam on the Taltson River was built in 1964 to power the former Pine Point lead and zinc mine . Its catchment area covers 22,600 km².
The Twin Gorges hydropower plant is 200 km downstream. It has an installed capacity of 18 MW. There are plans to expand the hydropower plant and increase the output to 56 MW. As part of the Taltson Project , an underground drainage control structure with a small hydropower plant is planned at Nonacho Dam.
