Taltson River
The Taltson River is a river in the Northwest Territories of Canada . The approximately 500 km long river has its origin in Coventry Lake in the southeast of the Northwest Territories.
It flows through the area southeast of the Great Slave Lake and finally flows into its south bank east of the Slave River .
There are eight reservoirs along its course: Nonacho Lake , Taltson Lake , King Lake , Lady Gray Lake , Benna Thy Lake , Kozo Lake , Twin Gorges , Tsu Lake .
An 18 MW hydropower plant has been located at Twin Gorges Dam since 1966. There are plans to replace this with a new 56 MW hydropower plant.
An important left tributary is the Tazin River . At the lower reaches of the Rutledge River flows into the Taltson River from the right.
