Nong Han ( Thai หนอง หาร ) is the largest natural freshwater lake in Thailand with islands and parks on the northern outskirts of Sakon Nakhon , in the Isan region .

The lake has an area of ​​125.2 km². It is extremely rich in fish (the fish species Bardus leiacanthus represents 20% of the fish population). There are 32 species of birds, 31 species of fish and 42 species of plants in the area. It is said that a monstrous Phaya Naga lives in the lake .

The lake, which reaches an average depth of 1.9 meters, shrinks in the dry season because shallow sections dry up.
