Nonius is an impact crater in the south of the front of the moon , southeast of Mare Nubium , north of Fernelius crater and southeast of Walter , the edge of which it touches. The crater is very badly eroded.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Portuguese mathematician Pedro Nunes .
