Life

After completing his doctorate at the University of Vienna (mineralogy and chemistry), Norbert Grögler accepted an invitation from Prof. Friedrich Georg Houtermans and was a member of his interdisciplinary team of space physicists and planetologists at the University of Bern . This team, led by Houtermans and then Prof. J. Geiss, worked closely with NASA to evaluate the new knowledge gained from NASA flights to the moon and into space . He developed important methods for the separation of mineral samples in meteorites and moon and published various important discoveries about mineralogy and petrography of rocks from space. He also had a keen interest in archeology and pioneered the use of thermoluminescent dating in the exploration and dating of ancient ceramics.
