Norbert Greinacher

Norbert Greinacher (born April 26, 1931 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a Catholic theologian from Germany .

Greinacher studied theology, philosophy and sociology from 1950 to 1956. His habilitation took place in 1966 and in 1969 he became professor of practical theology in Tübingen.

In 1980 he published the book The Church of the Poor - On the Theology of Liberation , with which he introduced Latin American liberation theology to a German readership. After a detailed presentation of liberation theology, he explains the conflict that it triggered in the Catholic Church and the development that liberation theology then went through before he concludes his book in the fourth main part with the effects and achievements.
