Norbert Leitner (officer)

Norbert Leitner (* 1963 in Schöder ) has been Director of the Security Academy (SIAK) since 2003 and President of the Association of European Police Colleges (AEPC) since April 1, 2016. From 2014 to 2016 he was its vice-president. The Security Academy is the central educational and research facility of the Federal Ministry of the Interior with headquarters in the Moroccan Barracks in Vienna and ten "Security Executive Education Centers " (BZS).

Career

In 1982 he passed the Matura at the ski school in Stams (discipline ski jumping); 1983 followed a basic military service with the Austrian Armed Forces in Zeltweg .

In 1983 he joined the Austrian Federal Gendarmerie in Graz. In 1983/1984 he received basic training for gendarmerie service in Graz; From 1984 to 1988 Leitner was a gendarmerie officer at the St. Lambrecht gendarmerie post .

In 1989/1990 he received officer training for gendarmerie service in Mödling . 1998 was the completion of the diploma course for law at the University of Vienna; In 2002, he completed his doctorate in law at the University of Vienna (dissertation: "Search by security authorities and security organs").

From 1991 to 2002 he was a training officer at the Gendarmeriezentralschule in Mödling. Since 2003 he has been the director of the Security Academy.

Leitner was Vice President of the Association of European Police Colleges (AEPC) from 2014 to 2016; since 2016 he has been President of the AEPC.
