Moroccan barracks

The Moroccan Barracks is located in the 3rd district of Vienna .

As a replacement for the Heumarkt barracks, a smaller barracks for the Austro-Hungarian army was built in Moroccan Lane in 1913 , and they moved into in 1914. In 1921 the alarm and school department of the Vienna Federal Police Department moved in here . Because of the address Moroccanergasse 4 in the 3rd district of Vienna , the name "Moroccan Barracks" became common.

Between 1928 and 1933 the police barracks was expanded to include the wing at Am Heumarkt 29–33 according to plans by the building construction atelier in the Federal Ministry of Trade and Transport . The building with its long front presents itself with stepped portal walls, cornice structure and a raised polygonal corner tower.

Today, the Security Academy (SIAK) of the Ministry of the Interior and the Vienna Education Center are located in the building as a subordinate department of the SIAK, in which basic and advanced training courses for the Federal Police and for employees of the General Administration Service of the Ministry of the Interior are carried out.
