Norbert Sattler
Norbert Sattler (born October 4, 1951 in Mauthen ) is a former Austrian canoeist . He won an Olympic silver medal and world title in individual and team competitions.
In 1971, Sattler won the team championship title together with Kurt Presslmayr and Hans Schlecht in Merano. The following year, was on the Augsburger Eiskanal a first Olympic competition in canoe slalom held. Sattler took second place behind Siegbert Horn from the GDR. At the 1973 World Championships, Sattler was able to return the favor, winning the individual title in front of Horn.
In 1977 at the World Championships in Spittal, Sattler then won two medals; In addition to the bronze medal in the individual ranking, he and Peter Fauster and Eduard Wolfhardt received the silver medal in the team ranking behind the French team. Fauster, Sattler and Wolfhardt were able to repeat this success in 1979 behind the British team. In 1978, Sattler became European individual champion.
The Carinthian Sports Press Club voted him twice (1972, 1973) Carinthian Sportsman of the Year.
