Nordica is an Italian manufacturer of winter sports equipment founded in 1939 . The company is part of the Tecnica Group .

history

In 1939 the brothers Adriano and Oddone Vaccari founded the company Nordica , which manufactured casual shoes, after years of experience as leather traders in Montebelluna .

After the war, Nordica began producing ski boots in addition to cross-country and mountain boots . Ski boots were traditionally made from leather until a buckle system was used for the closure in 1963 and the first shoes were made entirely of plastic in 1968. In 1970, a subsidiary was founded in the United States together with the French sporting goods manufacturer Rossignol .
In the 1970s, Nordica became the leading manufacturer of ski boots and founded further sales companies in the most important winter sports markets (Germany, France, Japan, Austria, Switzerland, USA). At that time, Nordica accounted for around 30 percent of global shoe production with around two million pairs of ski boots per year.

In 1991 Nordica took over 50 percent of the sporting goods manufacturer Rollerblade .

In 2003 the company was taken over by the Tecnica Group and Nordica subsequently specialized in the development, production and sale of ski boots and skis . In 2009 the company celebrated its 70th anniversary.
