Cesare Bovo (born January 14, 1983 in Rome ) is an Italian football player who has been under contract with US Lecce since the summer of 2018 .
Career
In the club
Bovo played the last years of his youth at AS Roma. In 2002 half of his transfer rights were ceded to US Lecce , where he made promotion to Serie A in the 2002/03 season. There he made his debut in the top Italian league in October 2003. In 2004 Rome bought back the rights and found a new partner in Bovo in US Palermo . Both clubs agreed to loan Bovo to FC Parma for a year . At Parma, Bovo became a regular player and also reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup with the club , in which they failed at the eventual winner CSKA Moscow . 2005/06 he returned to Roma, for which he came to a total of 22 missions in the following season.
In 2006 the complete transfer rights went to the US Palermo. In the pre-season season, Bovo suffered a serious foot injury and was out for almost the entire first half of the season. For the second half of the season he was therefore awarded to the league competitor FC Turin , where he was also only used sporadically. For the 2007/08 season, Palermo shared Bovo's transfer rights with first division promoted Genoa in 1893 . After Bovo initially played for Genoa, he has played again for US Palermo since June 2008 . In the 2011/12 season he was loaned to Genoa again.
In the summer of 2013, Bovo moved to Turin FC .
In January 2017, Bovo joined the newly promoted Delfino Pescara in 1936 .
In the national team
Bovo played in numerous national youth teams and was part of the Italian U-21 national team, which won the title at the 2004 U21 European Championship in Germany under Claudio Gentile . In the same year he was also in the squad of the Italian Olympic team, which won the bronze medal at the Summer Games in Athens . Bovo was used for the first time in the quarter-finals and completed this game as well as the semi-finals and the game for third place over the full distance.
In 2006 Bovo was again in the U-21 squad, but failed with Italy in the preliminary round of the U-21 European Championship . For the senior Italian team , Bovo has not been used so far.
