The North Cape Bank AG (until 2003 ABB Export Bank ) is an on trade - exports - and project financing specialized Swiss bank.

The company was founded in 1963 as Export Financing AG (EFAG) by the Swiss industrial group Brown, Boveri & Cie. founded. The activities of the finance company until 1996 included the offer of export and trade finance for the trading partners of the BBC and ABB, which emerged in 1988 .

In 1996 the finance company was approved as a bank by the Swiss Federal Banking Commission , whereupon the name was changed to ABB Export Bank . As part of the ABB Structured Finance division, ABB Export Bank subsequently expanded its offering to include other forms of financing . The customer base was later expanded and also included customers who were not direct trading partners of the ABB Group. As part of ABB's withdrawal to its core business, most of the Structured Finance division was sold to the US company GE for around US $ 2.3 billion in 2002 . ABB Export Bank was not sold. This was sold separately to a consortium of Swedish investors in the second half of 2003 .

With the change of ownership, ABB Export Bank was renamed Nordkap Bank AG . The areas of trade, export and project finance were retained as core activities, but on a new basis. Trade finance is now mainly related to the international raw materials business and is aimed directly or indirectly at raw material producers. The business of export and import finance and project finance focuses on the service - and of goods or on infrastructure projects in emerging markets .

In 2012 the name was changed to Nordkap AG .
