The Nordpark is a 7- hectare park in Bielefeld . It is best known for the listed garden house and the dahlia show .

history

The former horticultural director of the city of Bielefeld Paul Meyerkamp initiated the construction of the park in 1937. The open spaces between the steadily growing buildings were to be used as green spaces for recreation. As early as 1944, due to the inadequate supply situation during the Second World War , this function was replaced by use as grave land for the surrounding population. The accompanying parcelling and management were only completed in 1992. However, most of the park was converted into a landscape park between 1953 and 1956. In 1969 the dahlia show, which has been held annually from late summer to autumn since then, was shown for the first time.
