Norfolkline
The Norfolkline was a transport company that offered passenger ferry transport and logistical transport, and one of the largest ferry operators in Great Britain .
Norfolkline was sold on December 18, 2009 by the previous owner AP Møller-Mærsk to the also Danish DFDS group. The sale was approved by the EU authorities on June 17, 2010. Since July 13, 2010, Norfolkline has been integrated into the DFDS group; the integration process was completed in 2012. In the course of the integration of the two companies, the Norfolkline brand was also dropped , the shipping lines are now marketed as DFDS Seaways and the freight services on land as DFDS Logistics .
In addition to the passenger ferry connections, which can also be booked for freight transport, Norfolkline also operates pure freight connections between Great Britain and Ireland , the Netherlands and Denmark . The company has contact points all over Europe and uses the transport routes of railways , long-distance road traffic and ships for logistics services .
In 2008, Norfolkline surprised with the news that it was planning to resume the ferry service between Zeebrugge in Belgium and Rosyth in East Scotland, which was formerly operated by the Greek shipping company Superfast Ferries . Superfast Ferries had previously discontinued this route for economic reasons. From spring 2009, Norfolkline operated the only direct ferry service between Scotland and mainland Europe. The route was discontinued in 2010, however. The ferries now run daily between Amsterdam and Newcastle upon Tyne in northern England, not far from the border with Scotland.
The company owned 18 transport ships that were used on nine routes. It had approximately 2000 employees in 35 offices in 13 countries.
