The Nornen class is a five-unit class of patrol boats operated by the Norwegian Coast Guard . Your areas of responsibility are classic coast guard tasks such as search and rescue , assistance for damaged ships and the performance of sovereign tasks.
history
The Nornen class consists of five boats of the ST-610 design from the Norwegian shipyard Skipsteknisk AS; however, they were built in Poland. The contract for the five boats was signed on November 24, 2004. After delivery, the boats will be leased for 15 years and will replace the oldest units of the Norwegian Coast Guard .
Equipment and furnishings
Their main area of application will be the direct coastal apron, which is why the ships are relatively small. Compared to their predecessors, however, they are better in all areas, but also larger and therefore much more seaworthy. The equipment includes only light weapons - namely handguns and 12.7 mm machine guns - a 10.5 m daughter boat, a 6 m rigid inflatable boat , two folding cranes with a maximum length of 10 m and a maximum load capacity of 2.8 Tons, two capstans with a maximum load capacity of 5 tons and a cable winch with a pulling force of up to 35 tons. There is also equipment for sucking up spilled oil and associated tanks with a volume of 155 m 3 . A fire fighting system is also scaffolded.
Six double cabins are available for the lower tiers of the crew, while the higher tiers are accommodated in six single cabins. The ship has a fair for catering and the crew members can visit two common rooms during their free time. There is also a fitness room, laundry and a small hospital on board.
An operations center is also installed to manage operations.
