The Kystvakten or Kystvakta ( German Royal Norwegian Coast Guard ) forms the coast guard of Norway with 740 members (400 of them conscripts ) . They form part of the Norwegian Naval Forces within the Norwegian Armed Forces .
tasks
In addition to monitoring the territorial waters, the 200-mile zone , the fishery protection zones off Spitzbergen , Jan Mayen and mainland Norway, her tasks include SAR , environmental protection and support operations for other authorities.

- Norn class (built 2006-2008 by Morska Stocznia Remontowa Gryfia in Stettin ):
- Nornen (W330), Farm (W331), Heimdal (W332), Njord (W333), Tor (W334), Magnus Lagabøte (W335)
- Barentshav class (built 2009–2010 by My Klebust Verft in Gursken , Norway):
- Barentshav (W340), Bergen (W341), Sortland (W342)
- Pure class class (built 2010-2011 by Morska Stocznia Remontowa Gryfia in Stettin ):
- Magnus Lagabøte (P381 - 2010-2013 at Marineheimwehr, W335), Olav Tryggvason (P380)
Ships that are only represented by one boat in the fleet:
- Harstad (W318, built in 2005 at Søviknes Verft in Syvikgrend )
- Svalbard (W303, icebreaker, built in 2000 on the Tangen Verft in Kragerø )
- Ålesund (W312, seaworthy coast guard boat, built in 1996 on the My Klebust Verft in Gursken , only put into operation in 2006).
In addition, other civilly chartered and armed boats are in use. Furthermore, the Kystvakten has nine fishery protection vessels in use; for air missions it has six Lynx Mk.86 helicopters operated by the Norwegian Air Force .
