The Nornenbrunnen is a fountain in the center of Munich . It was built in 1907 in Art Nouveau style based on a design by Hubert Netzer . The fountain made from Kirchheim shell limestone shows the Norns , the three Germanic women of fate Urd , Verdandi and Skuld , who lean against a large bowl of water. Between the figures there are three mouths from which the water pours into three shallow basins on the floor.
The fountain was originally set up at the Stachus . In the course of the renovation work on the square, the complex was removed and rebuilt in 1965 at its current location in the ash complex on Maximiliansplatz .
