North Shore Trail

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

North Shore Trails or Shores for short are obstacle courses for mountain bikes . They are named after the Canadian North Shore Mountains in northern Vancouver. Originally, they were used to create paths for Canadian mountain bikers through the vast, forest-free jungles. So, without further ado, "chicken ladders" were built over fallen trees, rocks and holes. After the first photos of it appeared in mountain bike magazines, the Shores began to be used for entertainment purposes.

North Shore Trails look like horizontally laid ladders that a mountain or freeride bike can ride on. They have a width of a few centimeters up to 50 cm and a height of 0.2 to over 4 m. These trails are sometimes very difficult to drive on and require a high level of driving skills, as there are mostly jumps and tight curves built in. One of the largest mountain bike parks with North Shore trails is the Whistler Mountain Bike Park in Canada . Another was created in Kleinwalsertal . Often these trails are also used to build high drops .
