Coordinates: 33 ° 12 ′  S , 138 ° 36 ′  E The Northern Areas Council is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 3070 km² and has about 4500 inhabitants (2016).

The Northern Areas Council is located about 190 kilometers north of the metropolis of Adelaide . The area includes 19 hamlets and hamlets: Andrews, Belalie East, Belalie North, Bundaleer, Caltowie, Georgetown, Gladstone, Gulnare, Hornsdale, Huddleston, Jamestown, Laura, Mannanarie, Narridy, Spalding, Stone Hut, Tarcowie, Washpool and Yacka. The council is headquartered in Jamestown, northeast of the LGA.

The Northern Areas Council has nine members, the eight Councilors and the Chairman of the Council are elected by the residents of the LGA. Northern Areas Council is not divided into districts.
