Norwell is a rural suburb of the Gold Coast city in Queensland , Australia . It is located about 30 kilometers north of the center and had 282 inhabitants in 2011.

history

Apostolic Church, rebuilt in 1963

The name of the small suburb goes back to the Norwell sugar plantation , which the farmer William Pidd ran there in the 1870s. At that time there was a narrow-gauge track system for the transport of sugar cane , a state school and one building each for a Lutheran and an Apostolic Church . Today only the building of the Apostolic Church reminds of this past.

Norwell is bordered by Jacobs Well to the north, Pimpama to the south, Ormeau to the west, and Gilberton and Woongoolba to the north .
