Coordinates: 34 ° 55 ′ S , 138 ° 38 ′ E The City of Norwood, Payneham & St Peters is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The city belongs to the metropolis Adelaide , the capital of South Australia. The area is 15 km² and has about 35,000 inhabitants (2016). With its establishment on July 7, 1853, it is the oldest independent administrative unit outside of Adelaide, in South Australia.
The LGA is located in the center of Adelaide and borders the city center to the west. The area includes 21 neighborhoods: College Park, Evandale, Felixstow, Firle, Glynde, Hackney, Heathpool, Joslin, Kensington, Kent Town, Marden, Marryatville, Maylands, Norwood , Payneham, Payneham South, Royston Park, St Morris, St Peters, Stepney and Trinity Gardens. The council is headquartered in Norwood, south of the LGA.

The Norwood, Payneham & St Peters City Council has 16 members. Fifteen councilors are elected by the residents of the seven wards (two each from East Adelaide / Kent Town, Kensington, Payneham, Stepney / Maylands, Trinity and West Norwood Ward, three from Torrens Ward). These seven districts are determined independently of the districts. The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the city.
