#NotJustSad is a hashtag used by those affected to report on their depression on Twitter . It evolved temporarily in November 2014. "trending topic" ( English for " hot topic ").

On November 10, 2014, the Twitter user @ R3nDom published a tweet about his experiences as a person with depression. The blogger @isayshotgun picked up this tweet and reported in several of her own tweets about how people around her deal with her illness. Other affected people spoke up, whereupon the user @ Mali_2 suggested collecting corresponding tweets under a common hashtag. That same evening, she herself suggested the hashtag #NotJustSad . The hashtag was quickly picked up by numerous users and also by the media. The Süddeutsche Zeitung reported on the morning of November 11, followed later by Zeit Online , Spiegel Online , heute.de , Der Tagesspiegel , Focus and N24 , among others . International reported the website of Al Jazeera . On December 5, 2014 wrote @ Mali_2 the blog less three of Anne Wizorek about the creation of hashtags. On October 15, 2014, @isayshotgun published a book called Minusgefühle , which deals with the hashtag and its effects on their lives, among other things.
