Nouzha El Yacoubi

Nouzha El Yacoubi ( Arabic نزهة اليعقوبي, DMG Nuzha al-Yaʿqūbī ; * April 24, 1950 ) is a Moroccan mathematician and university professor. She was elected President of the African Mathematical Union for the period 2017–2021. She is the first woman to hold this position.

life and work

El Yacoubi received his doctorate in 1978 under Mohamed Akkar at the Mohammed V University in Rabat with the dissertation: Sur les Modules Topologiques et Bornologiques . From 1995 to 2009 she was Chairwoman of the African Mathematical Union Commission for Pan-African Mathematical Olympiads and from 2004 to 2009 Secretary General of the African Mathematical Union. She was elected President of the African Mathematical Union for the period from 2017 to 2021, making her the first woman in this position. She is a professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Mohammed V University.
