Novak's Kapelle was an Austrian rock band founded in 1967 by Erwin Novak. The band was best known for their wild live performances.

history

Novak's Kapelle was founded in 1967 by Erwin Novak, Walla Mauritz, Peter Travnicek and Helge Thor. In 1968 and 1969 the band released a single each. In 1970, guitarist Helge Thor was replaced on guitar by Paul Braunsteiner and in 1971 the debut album was supposed to appear, which was never released. In the same year, the band headlined the Styrian music festival Popendorf 71 , was booed by the fans because of their provocative behavior and had to flee the area.

After that, the band went quiet until they returned with a live EP in 1977, which was followed by the LP Naked in 1978 . The hope of being able to be successful in the wake of punk was soon dashed, however, and in 1978 the band's probably last concert took place at SO36 in Berlin .

In 1979 they released the EP Brennmaterial for the 80s and shortly afterwards the band officially broke up.
