Novotechnik is an electrical engineering company based in Ostfildern - Ruit and produces potentiometric sensors and contactless sensors for distance and angle measurement. A wide variety of physical principles are used, e.g. B. magnetic , magnetostrictive or inductive .

history

Novotechnik was founded in 1947 by Wilhelm Offterdinger together with two other partners. In 1952 Offterdinger relocated the company from Lindau to Stuttgart-Sillenbuch . Offterdinger became the sole owner in the mid-1950s. In 1956 Novotechnik moved into a new building in Ostfildern-Ruit. Due to an illness of Offterdinger, Mrs. Offterdinger took over the management of the Novotechnik company in 1962. On January 1, 1984, Horst Siedle, owner of the Furtwangen-based company S. Siedle & Söhne , bought Novotechnik.

Milestones

Important milestones in the company's history are the introduction of the potentiometer in general mechanical engineering in the 1950s, the development of the conductive plastic pressing process at the end of the 1960s as the first European company and the subsequent introduction of high-quality conductive plastic potentiometers on a broad basis. In the last few decades Novotechnik expanded the previous potentiometric product range and developed and produced non-contact and therefore wear-free measuring systems.

Products

Displacement transducers and angle sensors are manufactured in a wide variety of designs from 5 mm to 4250 mm measuring lengths. The sensors are used in the regulation, control, automation and monitoring of processes in mechanical engineering, including in injection molding machines, in general mechanical engineering , as well as in ship drives and Formula 1 vehicles. In the automotive industry, around 43,000 sensors from Ostfildern are installed in cars every working day.
