Nowruz oil field
The Nowruz Oil Field is an Iranian offshore oil field in the Persian Gulf . It was discovered in 1966 and is located 93 km northwest of the island of Charg, which belongs to Iran . The Soroush Oil Field is about 53 km away .
Incidents in 1983
In 1983, against the backdrop of the First Gulf War , one of the largest oil spills in the world occurred. On February 10, 1983, a tanker collided with an oil platform. In March 1983, Iranian helicopters shelled the oil platform.
