Nukapu is a small atoll in the southeastern Temotu province of the Solomon Islands . It is one of the outer islands of the Reef Islands , north of the Santa Cruz Islands .
The atoll has a total area of over five square kilometers. It stretches over 3.2 km from northeast to southwest, with a maximum width of 2.2 km. In the center is a small lagoon that is around 70 hectares in size. The only island in the atoll, Nukapu Island , is in the northeast. The island has a size of 770 by 650 meters and an area of around 30 hectares. Most of the atoll is taken up by the reef platform.
In the southwest of the island, on the 70 hectare small lagoon , is the only village Nipwa , with about 100 inhabitants. Around 25 huts and one larger building can be seen on current satellite images.
