Zero lift resistance
The zero lift resistance is the resistance of a wing profile against the flow without creating lift or downforce. It depends on the aerodynamically effective curvature and less on the profile thickness. In the case of non-arched (symmetrical) or certain S-shape profiles , the zero lift resistance is identical to the minimum resistance . The zero lift resistance thus strongly determines the minimum total resistance and thus the maximum speed of a wing profile.
