zero point seven campaign

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The zero point seven campaign was started by 38 Austrian organizations on October 17, 2003 , International Day for the Elimination of Poverty .

The aim of this campaign is for the Republic of Austria to fulfill an obligation it entered into in 1970: At that time, the member states of the United Nations committed themselves to making 0.7% of the gross domestic product available for development cooperation. However, Austria only spent 0.29% in 2001.

In 2005, then Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik made the commitment that she wanted to achieve the 0.7% target by 2015.
