The KFB, founded in Maria Plain in Salzburg in 1947 , is the largest women's organization in Austria with around 170,000 members and has its roots in the “Catholic Women's Organization” (KFO), which was initiated in 1906. The chairwoman is Veronika Pernsteiner .
The organizational structure of the movement that is emerging across Austria corresponds to the hierarchical structure of the Catholic Church. Accordingly, there are subordinate bodies at parish , deanery , vicariate and diocesan level . The legal entity of the entire Austrian activity is the association Katholisches Frauenwerk in Austria, founded in 1948, whose board is identical to that of KFB Austria.
Austria-wide activities
- The family fast day campaign of KFB Austria was initiated in 1958 by the then chairman Herta Pammer and has had the Austrian seal of approval since December 2002 .
- The Herta Pammer Prize has been awarded every two years since 1997 as an award for scientific and journalistic work on women and development support and is endowed with 7,000 euros.
- KFB Austria is the publisher of the women's magazine Welt der Frauen .
