Austrian seal of approval for donations

The Austrian Seal of Approval for Donations is an award given by the Austrian Chamber of Public Accountants (KWT) to non-profit organizations (NPO), which confirms that they meet a system of objective and comprehensible standards both in raising donations and in the administration of donations .

The seal of approval

The donation seal of approval stands for transparency and a sense of responsibility of the organization concerned in dealing with donations and is intended to create more security for donors, and thus in turn to strengthen trust in aid organizations.

If an organization wishes to use the donation seal of approval, it must undergo an annual audit by an independent auditor . The seven areas that are assessed during this audit include, among others, the “correctness of the accounting”, the “statutory and dedicated, i. H. Use of the donations in accordance with the advertising measures ”as well as the“ fairness of advertising and regulation of responsibility for it ”. A total of 35 criteria based on more than 300 individual questions have to be met in order to receive the “donation guarantee card” from the KWT.

On November 14, 2001, the Austrian seal of approval for donations was awarded for the first time. Among the 44 organizations that received awards at the time were Amnesty International Austria , Doctors Without Borders , Greenpeace Austria , Menschen für Menschen , SOS Children's Villages and World Vision GEV . Currently (August 17, 2017) 257 organizations are authorized to use the Austrian seal of approval for donations.
