Inge Loidl

Inge Loidl (born September 24 (born Eckstein) 1926 in Gmunden or Raab) was diocesan director of the Catholic women's movement in Upper Austria from 1968 to 1992 and chairwoman of the Catholic women's movement in Austria from 1978 to 1987 .

Live and act

Loidl grew up in Raab in the Innviertel , graduated from high school in Wels and studied at the University of Innsbruck , where she received her doctorate in philosophy in 1949 . She has a degree in folklore and history .

Her church engagement began as the editor of the women's newspaper Licht des Lebens (from 1964–2007 World of Women , since 2018 World of Women ) and continued through her work as diocesan secretary of the Catholic women's movement. From 1967 to 1992 she was the diocesan director of this organization, which has around 50,000 members, and from 1978 to 1987 also director of the Catholic women's movement in Austria, which has around 200,000 members. From 1965 to 1994 she was Vice-President of the Upper Austrian Catholic Action, during which time she was also the Vice-President of the Austrian Catholic Action for 15 years. During the diocesan synod from 1970 to 1972 she was, like Eduard Ploier, a vice-president.

During her term of office, a separate members' newspaper was launched for KFB Upper Austria and, with the Bad Dachsberg house, a rest home for mothers and their children was created. As a co-founder of the Familienfasttag campaign , she set funds in motion for people in developing countries.

In 2010 she was awarded the Florian Medal of the Diocese of Linz by Bishop Ludwig Schwarz for her pioneering work in the church and her supraregional commitment.

She has been married to the doctor Hans Loidl since 1952 and lives in Gramastetten , where she was also a councilor for many years.
