List of religious awards and orders
Religious awards and medals are donated and awarded by a denomination or another organization related to faith or religion.
Catholic Church
The orders and decorations are divided into different groups:
"Order of the Popes"
The orders and medals of the Papal States , and later the Holy See (the so-called "Pope Order") are, in descending order:
- Papal decorations:
- Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice ("For Pope and Church"),
- Benemerenti ("He who has earned himself") and the Jerusalem pilgrim cross .
Diocesan Awards
Each diocese has its own orders and decorations. The badges of honor are awarded by the respective diocese for particularly appreciable services in the pastoral or in a social, cultural, sociopolitical or organizational area related to the Catholic Church.

Collegiate crosses
Collegiate crosses are given to abbots and abbesses of various monasteries. There are around 100 crosses, mostly from the area of the Holy Roman Empire .
Canon Crosses
Canons turnstiles, also called Kanonikerkreuze are only members of the cathedral chapter ( canons to wear). There are a few hundred canon crosses, mostly in Catholic parts of the former Holy Roman Empire and also in Poland , Hungary and Croatia . New ones are also being created as a result of the administrative reforms of Pope John Paul II , who formed many new dioceses .

Protestant church
In the Evangelical Church, a regional church usually awards orders and awards for particularly appreciable services in the pastoral or in a social, cultural, sociopolitical or organizational area related to the respective regional church. The award is often given to volunteers.
