Hanna Jursch Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hanna Jursch Prize is a prize that recognizes outstanding scientific and theological work from the perspective of women. Every two years, an eight-person jury from academic theology and church practice proposes a winner to the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany .

The award is named after Hanna Jursch (1902–1972), the first woman to hold a chair in a theological faculty of a German university. The award ceremony usually takes place at Hanna Jursch's former place of work, the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . This was deviated from, among other things, in 2012, when the award ceremony was celebrated at the location of the award winner in the Philipps University of Marburg . The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros (as of 2015). A prize for young talent has also been awarded since 2014, endowed with 1,000 euros.
