The honorary award of the Austrian book trade for tolerance in thought and action has been awarded to authors since 1990 as part of the Austrian Book Week by the Main Association of the Austrian Book Trade and the Federal Committee of the Book and Media Industry.
The honorary award is given to people who, in their work and through their commitment , have made an outstanding contribution to tolerance towards their neighbors who speak a different language and who are culturally different, and who have thus made a contribution to peaceful coexistence in Europe .
