Heinrich Brauns Prize
The Heinrich Brauns Prize was donated on January 1, 1978 by the first Bishop of Essen, Franz Hengsbach , in memory of the Catholic priest and Reich Labor Minister Heinrich Brauns . It is awarded every two years to personalities who have made particular contributions to Catholic social teaching . The prize is endowed with 5000 euros.

- 2018 Wilhelm Beermann , first chairman of the board of RAG Deutsche Steinkohle AG , for his personal Christian testimony based on the goals of Catholic social teaching, which is linked to the history of mining and the development of the Ruhr area
