Marietta and Friedrich Torberg Medal

The Marietta and Friedrich Torberg Medal (until 2002 the Friedrich Torberg Medal ) is awarded at irregular intervals in Vienna by the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde to personalities and initiatives who have come out against anti-Semitism , racism and National Socialism or neo-Nazism .

The price

The Marietta and Friedrich Torberg Medal honors the memory of the writer, journalist and publicist Friedrich Torberg , who opposed National Socialism and campaigned against communism, as well as his long-time wife (1945–1962) and estate administrator Marietta. The Marietta and Friedrich Torberg Medal is awarded in Friedrichs Torberg's memory to people who campaigned for democracy and the rule of law in an independent Austria.
