Willi Mernyi

Willi Mernyi (born May 9, 1968 in Vienna ) is chairman of the Mauthausen Committee Austria and member of the audience council of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF).

Life

After completing his apprenticeship as a heavy current fitter at Elin Union AG (ELIN), Mernyi was elected to the Central Youth Trust Council (1985–1988). After joining the Federal Youth Board (1991–2000) of the ÖGB and training in cultural management at the University of Linz , he became a member of the ÖGB Federal Board in 1993. In 1999 Mernyi took over the management of the department for campaigns, projects and target groups and in 2011 switched to the department for organization, coordination and service in the ÖGB.

Willi Mernyi has been federal manager of the parliamentary group of social democratic trade unionists since 2012 . On July 1, 2019, Willi Mernyi and Ingrid Reischl were appointed by the ÖGB Federal Executive Committee as Senior Secretary of the ÖGB on June 25, 2019.
